Itinerary
8:00 am: Our driver and guide will greet you at your hotel in the center of Ho Chi Minh City and begin the morning tour of the Independence Palace. Previously, this palace was known as “Norodom Palace”. The Independence Palace was completed in 1871. Ngo Viet Thu designed it, and it is a well-known landmark in Ho Chi Minh City. Various French governors lived and worked in the palace during the Indochina war.
Many fascinating places in Vietnam were built by French colonists. The Notre Dame Cathedral, built between the 1860s and 1880s, is one of them. It was constructed following the French occupation in Saigon, with all costs and raw materials brought straight from France.
The Saigon Central Post Office, built between 1886 and 1891, is another French architectural marvel. It was designed by a well-known French architect and built with Gothic, Renaissance, and French architectural influences. It is still the city’s busiest post office and a significant symbol of Ho Chi Minh City.
Following that comes the amazing War Remnants Museum, which includes a large display of both Indochina wars. There is a large collection of American military equipment on show, including a helicopter, a tank, a fighter plane, and rocket launchers. This museum opened to the public in 1975 to exhibit French and American war crimes perpetrated during the Indochina and Vietnam Wars.
In the afternoon:
12:00 pm: Enjoy local cuisine at a local restaurant
After lunch, we’ll go to the Cu Chi tunnels (around 1.5 hours by car). Before touring the tunnels, you will be shown a short introductory movie about the tunnels upon arrival. You may understand how the tunnels were built and how the inhabitants survived during the war by watching this movie.
Then, with the guide’s assistance, you will explore the remainder of the area and tunnel systems. This system comprises specially built living spaces with kitchens, bedrooms, and other martial facilities. Storage, weapons manufacturing, field hospitals, and command centers hold those who dwell inside the tunnels in meeting their basic necessities. Furthermore, many secret trap doors and dangerous traps are buried throughout the maze-like tunnels for security purposes during the war.
You will have the opportunity to learn about, see, and explore a network of tunnels deep underground that can resist the destructive might of a US military bomb attack.
Following that, you will have the opportunity to sample a special tea as well as cassava (which was used by guerillas during the war). You can either rest or test the real shooting gun.
After exploring the Cu Chi tunnels, our car will transport you back to Ho Chi Minh City and drop you off at your hotel in the city center. We hope you had a wonderful trip.
